Unless I’m playing outside or in an auditorium seating more than a hundred people, I have to make a conscious decision to play more lightly than usual. I play a lot of gigs in small rooms at restaurants or wineries, and anytime folks are eating dinner or having conversations while I’m playing - I know I have to keep things chill.
