Helena Hauff | Live aus der Elbphilharmonie

Small line-ups, local artists, no audience: for #ElphiAtHome we found a way to record the best music from the Elbphilharmonie during the Corona pandemic, despite all the restrictions. In the twelfth edition, Hamburg's Helena Hauff plays a DJ set in the empty Great Hall. It all began in the legendary Golden Pudel Club, the centre of the alternative scene in Hamburg. In the club with notorious mottos like "Die Kotze hat meine Jacke verklebt" or "Die Welt zu Gast beim Feudeln", Helena Hauff played her first DJ sets and laid the foundation for her international career. In the meantime, the musician, producer and DJ is one of the world stars of the techno scene, has released several albums and even founded her own label "Return to Disorder". She herself describes her music as "rough, dirty and a bit cold" - she is said to have influences from EBM, techno, Detroit electro and wave. The Hamburg-based artist consistently refuses to use digital programmes such as Ableton; she composes her beats on her machine-based ensembles, the central component of which is her Roland 808. At the Elbphilharmonie, however, she does not play her own music but presents a DJ set that pays homage to the beginnings of techno in Detroit.
