Conhecendo Museus - Ep. 10: MUSEU DE ARTE DE SÃO PAULO - MASP

The São Paulo Museum of Art, popularly known as MASP, is one of the iconic landmarks of the city of São Paulo (SP). When passing by Avenida Paulista, one can see a mirrored building suspended by red columns, which houses a rich cultural collection, featuring great Brazilian and foreign artists. Founded in 1947, MASP was conceived by businessman Assis Chateaubriand and Italian journalist and art critic Pietro Maria Bardi. Initially, it was installed on four floors of the Diários Associados building, which housed Chateaubriand's media conglomerate. The museum's new headquarters, inaugurated in 1968, was designed by Lina Bo Bardi and took 12 years from design to execution.
