Standing Ovations für Pankreaskrebstherapie! Highlight vom Amerikanischen Krebskongress 2026

When discussing the ultimate highlight of this year's ASCO meeting, this study is undoubtedly the one being referred to: Daraxonrasib vs. chemotherapy in patients with previously treated pancreatic cancer – what compelling results! Pancreatic cancer is typically characterized by KRAS mutations, and the best available chemotherapies – FOLFIRINOX and Gamcitabidiol/nab-paclitaxel – have been around for decades without any significant progress. Immune checkpoint blockade is generally not an option (except and only in cases of MSI-H/dMMR – but that is rare). It has been known for some time that daraxonrasib is a pan-RAS inhibitor that targets the active (GTP-bound) isoform – the only question was how well it works clinically... A doubling of median overall survival, a doubling of median progression-free survival, and HRs of 0.4 and 0.5, respectively – these results clearly demonstrate the superiority of targeted therapy over chemotherapy – and this is just the beginning!
