Rygar (Arcade): Playthrough on Hard, Part 1: Levels 1-8

Rygar: Playthrough on Hard, Part 1: Levels 1-8 This playthrough is meant to illustrate what Rygar looks like if you’re playing on Hard. Rygar comes with 4 difficulty levels: Easy, Normal, Hard, and Hardest. The third used to be the standard setting where I used to play, in São Paulo, Brazil, back in the 1990s. Level Hard comes with its advantages and disadvantages. On the one hand, the game is — of course — harder to play! But on the other hand it’s possible to set higher scores on Hard than on any other difficulty levels, since there are more enemies on the screen. (Hardest has just as many enemies, but they are smarter.) And as any Rygar enthusiast knows, this is one of the best games ever for setting records. Back when I used to play, anything above 7 million points was considered excellent. Things have evolved since, especially now that emulators allow players to practice skills that were hard to sharpen when you were playing at the arcade. The best player I know, Shahbaz, from Pakistan, has taken scores on Rygar to a new level. You can watch him play here:    • Video  . The final score for my playthrough is pretty decent, even though I lost a life on Level 14, which cost me approximately half a million points, and my performance on the later levels was subpar. But technically this score doesn’t count. I was making separate videos and I played the game on four separate sections, saving it at the end of levels 8, 16, and 17 in order to resume it the next day. The first three videos are pretty much continuous, but I died on the way to 27 and had to re-do the last video. But that's okay: I’m still getting back into shape after more than 20 years without playing, and the later levels are still somewhat unfamiliar at this point. You will notice I missed several 10k bonuses between 18 and 26. I hope to be posting a single-video playthrough soon. There are good moments in this playthrough though. I hope you enjoy it.
