Zugspitze via Höllental Juni 2016 I Seven European Summits (Via Ferrata - Klettersteig)

As start of our Seven European Summits 2016 Project, the ascent of the Zugspitze via the Höllental Via Ferrata on17th/18th June 2016 was a tour through all four seasons. The Höllental-Klettersteig is the most difficult, but also the most versatile and interesting route to climb Zugspitze. After a mere 2-hour hike through the Höllentalklamm in pooring rain and thunderstorm, we stayed a night at the fully renovated Höllentalangerhütte. The next morning we left the hut at around 5:30am with a cloudless sunshine sky. It took us 5,5 hours to cross the Höllentalferner and many snowfields in the upper third of the Via Ferrata (which completely covered the fixed cables), before we reached the summit cross in a complete White-Out at around 11am. 2016 had unusual difficult circumstances in mid June with knee-deep snow and minus temperatures on the summit. But it was definitely worth it.
