National Workers Stokvel: How to Save South Africa's Middle Class Without Borrowing a Cent

South Africa's middle class is being slowly suffocated — and the numbers prove it. A worker earning R700,000 a year takes home barely R41,000 a month after PAYE and deductions. Meanwhile, Personal Income Tax alone carries nearly 40% of the entire national tax burden. The engine of this economy is running on empty. In this video essay, I'm presenting a blueprint to fix it — without touching the national budget and without borrowing a single cent. The National Workers' Stokvel is a Sovereign Wealth Fund built from five targeted revenue streams: a corporate tax surcharge, an import levy, capital gains and dividends hikes, luxury property duties, and a phased, cyclical wealth tax on individuals worth over R50 million. Together they fund a 2% PAYE tax cut injecting R26 billion back into worker pockets every year — while simultaneously growing a national asset pool that reaches R481 billion in just ten years.
