The early morning atmosphere in Maros Regency, South Sulawesi, suddenly became tense after dozens of individuals suspected of being members of a motorcycle gang attacked residents on Sunday (July 5, 2026) at around 2:30 a.m. WITA (Central Indonesian Time). The perpetrators allegedly used bows, injuring one resident and requiring intensive care at La Palaloi Hospital in Maros. The attack immediately sparked resistance from residents. Six suspected perpetrators were apprehended at the scene, while two motorcycles allegedly used in the attack were targeted by the mob and burned to the ground. Meanwhile, several other suspected perpetrators reportedly managed to escape.
