Last year, the UAZ Patriot celebrated its 20th anniversary, and if you count the lifespan of the original UAZ-3160, then the Ulyanovsk flagship is... almost 30! Now fans of the model are waiting for a restyling, but its timing, as they say, is “being postponed”. The most recent inputs were as follows: improved cars will go on sale before the beginning of the third quarter of this year. Will they have time? The pre-production car has just been sent for certification tests. In theory, obtaining a new OTTS takes about two months. But here an “expansion” is clearly being formalized: new modifications will simply be added to the existing document, and this is already significantly simpler. As for the restyling itself, as the TV channel “Auto Plus” has already reported, it will be extremely modest. The front optics will be stuffed with LEDs, the bumpers and radiator grille will be redesigned. Inside, the steering wheel, air conditioning unit, central tunnel and some other small things like the gear lever will be replaced. Actually, the latter was necessary, since the SUV switches to a six-speed JAC “mechanics”, the production of which is established at the Zavolzhsky Motor Plant. Another Sollers brainchild, a two-liter diesel engine, has also been announced, but the gasoline version with the trusty old naturally aspirated ZMZ engine was certified first.
