Catalyst Collaborations: UK gun crime and the threat of DIY firearms
The first of our Catalyst Collaborations explores the illegal manufacture of homemade guns and ammunition and the methods used to investigate it. The explosive topic is tackled by Dr Helen Poole, Executive Dean of the School of Justice, Security and Sustainability and co-editor of the textbook Firearms: Global Perspectives on Consequences Crime and Control alongside Associate Professor of Forensic Science Dr Rachel Bolton King. Rachel, a leading firearms expert, has completed a PhD in Forensic Firearms Investigation and, as a recipient of the Winston Churchill Fellowship Award, has travelled the world to research gun crime.
