Historical Linguistics: How I Built My Corpus with Greek Comedy and Oratory

Today I want to talk about the Classical corpus for my PhD research. I studied nominal compounds in Ancient Greek, and for this part of my project, I worked with Greek comedy and oratory: Aristophanes, Menander, Lysias, and Demosthenes. In this video, I share how I chose these texts, how I turn words in these physical books into my dataset, and how the corpus became not just a collection of sources, but an aesthetic playground. For me, doing research is not only about method and verification. It is also about choosing the world you want to spend time with, and how to listen to the living, melodic organisms of data. This channel is a place for me to share my thoughts on Ancient Greek and linguistics. I also talk about PhD life, my art practice, and navigating the world as a neurodivergent person. For me, they are all part of a multidimensional way of living. #ancientgreek #linguistics #phd #academia #greekcomedy #greekliterature
