1978 Ludwig Drumset Part 2: Supraphonic Snare Restoration!
While waiting on other parts for the kit to arrive, I thought it was a great time to get the first of two snare drums cleaned up and ready to go. This one is an LM400 Ludwig Supraphonic, which is a 5x14 chrome-over-aluminum snare. It's an absolutely phenomenal sounding drum but after wearing these same heads for literally decades, it was very tired and in desperate need of a clean up and refresh. With some new snare wires, snare cord, fresh heads and a very thorough cleaning/polishing, the difference in sound (and appearance!) is genuinely stunning. Please don't bag on my playing too hard, I'm easing bak into drums after not playing regularly for 17 years. Thanks for watching, and Happy Thanksgiving 2022!
