All the hotel staff came to the jetty to see me off. We shook hands, said goodbye, and they stayed until I boarded the ferry. That warmth and sincerity became one of the most memorable moments of this trip. I then took a public ferry to the next island — Kamadhoo. As soon as I arrived, the atmosphere felt different. Compared to Kudarikilu, Kamadhoo feels more developed and slightly more touristy. The hotel staff welcomed me at the port and helped me check in. After briefly showing the room, I started walking around the island. Inside a small convenience store, I discovered a typical local sweet called Bondi candy. During my walk I passed by the local school, the mosque — which is an important center of island life — and a banana growing area. Eventually I reached the beautiful Bikini Beach, where the white sand, clear water and coral reef create a perfect spot for swimming and snorkeling. To end this episode, I simply jumped into the ocean. This experience shows that the Maldives is not only about luxury resorts — there is also a very real and authentic local island life.
