How to fit a piezo pickup and preamp into an acoustic guitar and make it into an electro-acoustic guitar. I've done the same project with a Fishman Presys Blend 301 pickup and preamp    • Fishman Presys Blend 301 - unboxing, revie...   In this project I fit a piezo pickup and mic, LC-5 equalizer preamp into an acoustic guitar or in other words, I make an acoustic guitar into an electro-acoustic guitar. The preamp also has the addition of a microphone socket and a control to balance the sound of the mic with the sound of the pickup making it very flexible. The results are an acoustic guitar that can be plugged straight into an amplifier, mixing desk or effects for easy recording or good live performance. I did this project with a cheap guitar so I can see what the results were going to be like without potentially ruining an expensive guitar, however I was very impressed with the sound the preamp produced. My only criticism after using the guitar for a while was that the battery like in this preamp was very poor. I have now done exactly the same job using a Fishman Presys Blend 301, which also a microphone and piezo pickup but I was far more impressed with the battery life in that preamp and the sound was very good. In this project the preamp was an unbranded one that was bought off Ebay directly from Hong Kong, however it is still available to buy. To find the preamp on eBay or Amazon search 'Acoustic Guitar Preamp EQ LC-5' I replaced the microphone provided with a Sony ECM-DS70P because it made a noticeable improvement to the sound and the background noise.
