The African bitter leaf plant (Vernonia amygdalina) is a culturally important vegetable for many African countries. In Cameroon, it is also known as Ndole bitterleaves. It is used to prepare a delicious Cameroonian food known as Ndole. Bitterleaves have both medicinal and nutritional value. They are super easy to grow even outside of Africa. They are very resilient and do well in cold climates. Adding bitter leaves to your healthy diet may reduce your risk of chronic diseases like breast cancer and type 2 diabetes. Bitter leaf (Vernonia amygdalina) is a traditional ingredient in African cuisine. Although it may have a bitter title, its flavor is quite mild. The process of prepping bitter leaves for cooking is usually laborious and time consuming, hindering its frequent use for making nutritious meals.
