Woodturning - The Bowling Ball

Welcome to this weeks woodturning video. Woodturning - Bowling Ball (Patriots Bowl) One for all the ten pin bowlers out there! And USA / American patriots This bowling ball was gifted to me by a dear friend who is a true American patriot. This is his second favourite “made in the USA” red while and blue ball. He wanted to see it turned into a bowl to be sent back to the family in the United States. He also has one with the Star Spangled Banner, American flag on it which I will be turning into a bowl too. Turning this bowling ball was not a fun process. Woodturning lathes should be used for woodturning, not for turning bowling balls. Bowling balls were not made to be turned on a lathe and as a result the filler inside the bowling ball is a really disgusting material. Bowling balls can contain asbestos! If you intend on turning a bowling ball be sure to first get the inside Tested.
