"Мире лукавий" - Ukrainian Orthodox Chant [ENG CC]

The words of this chant were written by the Ukrainian theologian, philosopher, writer, poet, publicist, preacher, religious and cultural figure Stefan Yavorsky (1658-1722). He was born in the village of Yavora in the Boikivshchyna region of Galicia (now Lviv oblast), into a poor noble Orthodox family. Stefan Jaworski probably received his primary education at a brotherhood school in Yavora. In 1673-1684 he studied at the Kyiv-Mohyla College, with Joasaph Krokovsky and Varlaam Yasynsky. He studied philosophy and theology in Lviv, Lublin, Poznan, and Vilna. It is known that at that time he studied philosophical courses of the then famous professors of philosophy Jan Morawski and Jan Młodziąowski, and composed his own philosophy course.
