Миофасциальный синдром. Что такое МФС?
Myofascial syndrome is a muscle disorder where, in a living person, areas similar to rigor mortis form in the muscle. These areas are trigger points. Muscles are made up of muscle cells. They are long (up to 10-12 cm) but very thin – about the thickness of a human hair. The main function of muscles is contraction, that is, bringing their attachment points closer together. This occurs due to the contractile elements in the muscle. These contractile elements can contract and cannot relax freely – this is what creates this area of rigor mortis. True weakness of the affected muscle. Muscle strength is proportional to the number of active (healthy) fibers. If their number decreases, so does muscle strength. 3. Limited range of motion. The muscle cannot fully stretch, and joint movement is reduced. 4. Degenerative changes at the muscle attachment sites. 5. Changes in posture. When interpreting MRI and making a diagnosis, doctors almost always ignore myofascial syndrome as a source of pain. However, in 80-90% of cases, it will be the ONLY or PRIMARY diagnosis, which is what causes the patient's complaints. This means that myofascial syndrome almost always needs to be treated, even when it's not at all obvious. For example, in a myocardial infarction, both the heart and myofascial syndrome need to be treated. However, there are indeed cases (extremely rare) where the primary pain is caused by another specific condition, not a muscle disorder. When diagnosing myofascial syndrome, it's best to specify the affected muscles. In the next two videos, we will: 1. Conduct a myofascial diagnosis (examination) 2.
