Unboxing and Introduction to the Nordic Semiconductor nRF54L15-DK (LEDs, GPIOs, PMIC)

In this video, I unbox the Nordic nRF54L15-DK and show how to set it up with the nRF Connect SDK. The nRF54L15-DK is a powerful development kit based on Nordic Semiconductor’s new nRF54L15 System-on-Chip, supporting Bluetooth Low Energy, Thread, Zigbee, and Matter. Development is done using the Zephyr real-time operating system, which provides multithreading, device tree-based configuration, and driver-based access to peripherals like I²C, SPI, and GPIO. After the unboxing, I’ll walk you through flashing your first example firmware onto the nRF54L15-DK with Visual Studo Code. We’ll start with the Blinky example, then manually control a GPIO pin and connect a red 5 mm LED through a 200 Ω resistor. Since the default GPIO voltage is 1.8 V, I’ll show how to adjust it to 3.3 V in the Board Configurator so the LED lights up properly. I’ll also cover a few details about the power configuration, including how the DK is powered over USB and how the nPM1300 PMIC manages the board’s supply voltage. Whether you’re exploring Nordic’s new nRF54 series or getting started with Zephyr development, this video will guide you through the essential first steps — from unboxing to your first working LED.
