He liked Istanbul so much that he and his wife decided to settle in Ümraniye. He opened a restaurant to promote Japanese cuisine in Turkey. He served as an interpreter and distributed food to the aid team arriving from Japan during the earthquakes centered in Kahramanmaraş.
