Still Riding Rim Brakes in 2026 (and Loving It)
Modern road bikes are incredible — lighter, more aerodynamic, more advanced than ever before. But does that automatically make older bikes bad? In this video, I talk about why older road bikes still make a lot of sense today, especially for beginners or people who simply want to enjoy riding without worrying too much about specs. From rim brakes and mechanical shifting to aluminum frames and external cables, there’s still a lot to appreciate about simpler bikes. This isn’t about saying old bikes are “better.” It’s more about questioning whether we sometimes overcomplicate cycling — and why an older used bike can still be more than enough. Part of my small series around my 2017 Canyon Endurace AL 6 road bike and why I still enjoy riding it today. I really appreciate your support in my recent videos. In really means a lot to me. Thanks for watching guys!!! :)
