Bridget Phillipson is set to publish new Equality Act guidance stating that trans women must be barred from female toilets, changing rooms and sports teams. The updated EHRC code follows the Supreme Court ruling that “woman” in law refers to biological sex. Women’s rights campaigners welcomed the move, while trans rights groups warned the guidance could harm trans people’s safety and dignity.
