Coming into this year’s British Young Carp Angling Championship, I had one thing on my mind: redemption. Last year, I spent an entire weekend on these banks without catching a single fish. This time, I was determined to turn that defeat into motivation. Since then, I’ve pushed myself, catching 14 fish at a Parker Bait social and even taking home the award for the biggest fish. Today feels different. It’s not about proving anything to anyone else, but about showing myself what I’m capable of. With the draw done, I got Peg 27—prime with the wind pushing the fish my way. I set up with a focused strategy: a solid bag and a zig rig, a mix of OG fruit and nut boilies, and tight baiting to draw the fish in slowly. As anglers around the lake started catching, pressure mounted. The excitement was real, but carp fishing is as much about patience as it is about quick decisions.
