Make Up Issue Title Play Song And Patter (1937)
Make up. Part of PLAY SONG AND PATTER issue. Pathe Studio, London. Make-up artist, Jean Barry (beauty expert of "Woman's Fair") gives beauty make-overs to "plain" girls. C/U of unattractive girl with messy hair and no make-up reading a magazine. Various C/Us of same girl having makeover; good shots of skin cleansing, application of foundation cream, eye shadow, rouge, eye brow pencil, powder, mascara, lipstick. C/U of unattractive girl - she has now been transformed into a beautiful model-type with cupid bow lips and glamorous curled hair! Various before and after shots of other "plain" girls who have been given the Jean Barry glamour treatment. Cataloguer's note: very funny - the girls are obviously models that have been deliberately made to look ugly by drawing on thick wobbly eye brows and straightening hair. Reminds me of film "Now Voyager"! AH 2001. FILM ID:1240.31 FOR LICENSING ENQUIRIES VISIT http://www.britishpathe.com/
