"A former political prisoner, Shiva Mahbobi serves as the spokesperson for Campaign to Free Political Prisoners in Iran and has campaigned extensively to improve the conditions of political prisoners both in Iran and globally. As a member of the executive committee of Equal Rights Now which is an Organisation against Women's Discrimination in Iran, Mahbobi has worked as the coordinator of the Action Committee in Defense of Women's Rights in Iran (ACWRI) where she was actively engaged in raising awareness of the situation of Iranian women with international organisations such as Amnesty International. This event will be a particularly poignant discussion of the rights of women, and other minority groups in Iran, and will be to mark our solidarity with the Iranian people." ............................................................................................................................
