In 1944, dozens of Chechen families were deported to Kazakhstan. They were transported thousands of kilometers from their homes. They were forced to start their lives anew in the harsh conditions of the steppe. Despite hunger, cold, and their own hardships, residents of the Kazakh village of Alekseyevka (now the village of Kazymbet in the Abay Region) helped the displaced people survive. They shared bread, welcomed them into their homes, and supported them as family. Decades later, the descendants of these families met again. One of the film's characters flew to Kazakhstan from Austria to honor the memory of the man who once helped his relatives survive the most difficult years. This is a story not only about deportation.
