They all lived in the mountains, tied up travelers with webs, and ate them. In the "Notes on Tsuchigumo", written in the 14th century, monstrous tsuchigumo appeared in the capital. The commander Minamoto no Yorimitsu, who lived in the middle of the Heian period, known for the murder of Shuten-doji, at the request of his subject Watanabe no Tsuna went towards the field of Rendai, in the mountains north of Kyoto, where they encountered a floating skull. Yorimitsu and those who found this suspicious followed the skull and arrived at an old mansion, where monsters appeared and mocked them. When dawn came, a beautiful woman appeared in the room, who was going to trick them, but Yorimitsu, not being deceived, cut her with his katana, and the woman disappeared, and only white blood remained on the floor.
