When the baby comes out of the vagina then the outer layer of the vagina which is called Introitus gets cut. Because the baby's head is 9-10 cm and the vaginal opening is small. That is why a cut is made on the Introitus which is called Episiotomy. 02:00 What is 3rd Degree Perineal Tear? When we sit then that area is called Perineam. When episiotomy is done so that the baby's head can come out easily. If the baby's head is too big then this cut goes upto the anus. And this is called 3rd Degree Perineal Tear. 02:44 What is the problem on wiping upto the anus in 3rd Degree Perineal Tear? If the cut reaches the anus, it is difficult to control stool.
