Queen - Live in Sapporo - 6 May 1979 (2-Source Merge)
Tour: • Jazz Tour (1978 - 1979) | Leg 3: Japan Date: 6 May 1979 Venue: Makomanai Indoor Stadium City: Sapporo, Japan Used recording(s): • Audience recording (B+): AUD ► ? ► "Jazz Final" ► CDR (x) ► WAV (GoldWave Pitch/Speed Correction) ► CDR (0) ► WAV ► FLAC Level 8 • Audience recording (C+): AUD ► ? ► "Up Field Tapes" (Soldier's Things) ► WAV ► FLAC Level 8 2-Source Merge by Ryan Newton and My Melancholy Boots The second night in Sapporo is the last night on the 'Jazz' Tour and the end of Queen's longest tour through Japan ever. To celebrate the occasion, both 'If You Can't Beat Them' and 'Fat Bottomed Girls' return to the setlist, the latter at the expense of 'It's Late'. Additionally, the first encore sees 'Jailhouse Rock' preceding 'Sheer Heart Attack', the only time the Elvis rocker is played in Japan on this tour. The mood is clearly very positive on stage and while Freddie's voice only manages to partake for the first hour of the show, he and the rest of the group have a blast with various extended improvs and jams, snippets and callbacks to earlier material, such as 'Liar' or 'Sakura Sakura' during a great guitar solo in 'Brighton Rock'. Freddie struggles to motivate the audience to sing along but this doesn't stop him from trying to include them in almost every song, clearly letting out all his love for Japan on this last night of the tour. As per usual with end of tours, there are a few songs getting their farewell performances, those being the slow 'We Will Rock You' at the start of the show, 'Bicycle Race' and the dearly missed 'Dreamers Ball' during the acoustic set. 00:00:00 - 01.
