Dhikr is a simple way to receive blessings from Allah SWT. It is recommended to do it anytime and anywhere. The call to perform dhikr in the morning and evening is contained in several verses of the Quran and hadith. Allah Ta'ala says, "And glorify Him in the morning and evening. It is He who gives mercy to you and His angels (asks forgiveness for you), so that He brings you out of darkness into light (brightness). And He is Most Merciful to those who believe" (QS. Al-Ahzab: 42-43). "So glorify Allah when you are in the evening and when you are in the morning" (QS. Ar-Rum: 17). In the hadith of Anas bin Malik, may Allah be pleased with him, the Messenger of Allah said: "I sit with people who recite the remembrance of Allah from (the time of) the Fajr prayer until sunrise is more dear to me than freeing four slaves from the son of the Prophet Ismail AS. And I sit with people who recite the remembrance of Allah from (the time of) the Asr prayer until sunset I love more than freeing four slaves." Morning and evening dhikr can be performed after prayer, while in silence, or at any opportunity. The benefits of morning and evening dhikr are as follows: 1. Gaining Allah's Protection. Those who consistently praise Allah's greatness will always be protected from evil. Dhikr can also open the door to salvation in this world and the hereafter. In the hadith of Abu Hurairah (may Allah be pleased with him), it is stated that whoever recites this dhikr three times in the evening will not be harmed by poison that night. (Narrated by Ahmad 2/290). 2. Fulfillment of Needs. Dhikr can open the door to sustenance. This makes all worldly and afterlife affairs feel smooth and easy to navigate. When you do dhikr, you will always feel grateful for all that you have. This keeps your heart content and free from feelings of greed and avarice. 3. Promised Paradise. Because it is a practice favored by Allah SWT, dhikr certainly has extraordinary rewards. Anyone who remembers Allah every day will be promised paradise by Allah.
