Georgian Railways was founded in 1872 and is one of the oldest train companies in the world, currently undergoing infrastructure renovations. THE TBILISI METRO    • METRO DE TBILISI - TBILISI UNDERGROUND - T...   STADLER KISS 160 FROM TBILISI TO BORJOMI Georgia's two main cities are connected by the new Swiss-made Stadler Kiss 160 trains. European comfort and tickets that can only be purchased at stations... and are not always available. ELEKTRIKA BORJOMI KUTAISI Regional services are covered by Soviet-era Elektrika series trains. These trains are very different from the modern Stadler models and will be replaced by new ones in the coming years. THE KUKUTSCHKA IN BORJOMI The journey ends with a Russian railway gem with a 900-millimeter gauge that takes us from Borjomi to the ski resort of Bakuriani. This line was closed for renovation in 2022, but Georgian Railways hopes to reopen it in the coming years.
