I've had this patch in mind for days (I tend to try to go through the patching process when I am trying to sleep), and I know it's nothing revolutionary, but I wanted to lay it out to see if everything worked as I envisioned. And it does! To the surprise of no one, maybe, but I am pretty happy with the different ways we can "patch program" these simpler modules.
