Comment and be part of our community! Jockey Club of São Paulo Did you already know this??? The Jockey Club of São Paulo is the entity that manages and owns the Hipódromo de Cidade Jardim. It was founded on March 14, 1875, under the name "Club de Corridas Paulistano". Its first racetrack was the Mooca Racecourse, on Rua Bresser. Initially, it was determined that the new racetrack would be located in Ibirapuera. However, later, on January 25, 1941, the current Cidade Jardim racetrack was inaugurated, which sought to meet modernity by acting as a stage for various events such as fairs, fashion shows, and parties, among others, located in the Jardim Everest neighborhood, [3] in the Morumbi district of São Paulo. The land on which the current Jockey Club of São Paulo stands was donated by Companhia Cidade Jardim, which understood the need for a larger space that would meet the demands of the public and was conceived by the then Mayor of São Paulo and President of the Jockey Club, Fábio Prado. The racetrack was then built on 600,000 meters of land on the banks of the Pinheiros River, which had not yet been rectified at the time, between 1937 and 1941. The project was designed by Brazilian architect Elisário Bahiana and later remodeled by French architect Henri Sajous. Despite the location of the new racetrack, the club's headquarters remained close to its original location, on Rosário Street. From there, it moved to São Bento Street in 1917, then to 15 de Novembro Street, Praça Antônio Prado and, finally, in the 1960s, to its current location, located on Boa Vista Street, in the city center. The Jockey Club also has the Campinas Training Center, in the city of the same name, located in the interior of the state of São Paulo, on the site where the Boa Vista Racetrack once stood.
