India's Envoy to North Macedonia on President Murmu's Historic Visit

President Droupadi Murmu's state visit to North Macedonia marks a new chapter in bilateral ties, India's Ambassador to Bulgaria and North Macedonia, Arun Kumar Sahu, said in an exclusive interview with DD India. Speaking to DD, Ambassador Sahu said the visit, the first-ever by an Indian President to North Macedonia, reflects the growing importance of relations between the two countries. He said expectations are high on both sides and described the visit as "a new beginning" in bilateral engagement. The Ambassador said North Macedonia offers Indian businesses a strategic gateway to Europe and the Western Balkans because of its location along key transport corridors. He added that a business delegation accompanying the President is exploring opportunities for trade and investment. He identified information technology, healthcare, pharmaceuticals, agriculture, biotechnology, the automotive sector and tourism as key areas for future cooperation. He said the visit is expected to strengthen economic and commercial partnerships alongside political ties. President Murmu is on a two-day state visit to North Macedonia, the first presidential-level visit between the two countries since diplomatic relations were established in 1995.
