Torque does differ from Horsepower quite considerably, but Torque is a necessary part of the equation in determining Horsepower, and Horsepower is a necessary part of the equation in determining Torque. Engine torque, which describes the rotating force generated by an engine, is a key idea in automobile engineering. It is a measurement of the engine's capacity to produce power and is frequently referred to as the crankshaft's twisting force. The combustion of an air and fuel mixture inside the cylinders of an engine produces torque. The crankshaft is turned by the force of the expanding gases pushing the pistons downward. The torque produced by this rotational motion at the crankshaft is subsequently transferred to the wheels of a vehicle by the gearbox system. Typically, torque is expressed in terms of force times length, such as newton-meters (Nm) or pound-feet (lb-ft). The displacement, design, fueling system, and engine management system are only a few of the variables that affect an engine's torque output.
