The 3/2mm Highline Plus Chest Zip Wetsuit by Quiksilver [Review]
Visit Adventure Rig here: https://goo.gl/OzQc0M The Highline Plus 3/2mm Wetsuit by Quiksilver kept me warm and comfortable for the last five weeks in Baja while I learned to kite board. Quiksilver’s F’n Lite 2 neoprene provides overall comfort, flexibility and warmth and the textured design helps the wetsuit to dry quickly. The WarmFlight® Far Infared x2 thermal lining throughout the core, back, and upper legs retains body heat. With water temps right around 70º in Baja, the 3/2 was definitely a little overkill but while learning to kite board, you are spending a lot of time in the water so I was happy to have the warmth. According to Quiksilver, the suggested water temp for this suit is 51º- 58º but the Highline Plus is available in different thicknesses. I’m a huge fan of the F’n LITE 2 neoprene mostly because of overall comfort. It’s flexible and won’t restrict movement no matter what you’re doing. It’s also soft and comfortable up against the skin. It was pretty humid in Baja and I was often impressed that my wetsuit would dry overnight, thanks to the F’n neoprene. For warmth, aside from tech built into the neoprene, Quiksilver also added their WarmFlight Far Infared thermal lining and Thermal Smoothie panels on the front and back of the suit. I’m a huge fan of the WarmFlight Far Infared lining because it adds to overall warmth without restricting movement. It’s extremely soft and helps trap body heat. The Thermal Smoothie on both the front core of the suit and back helps to also retain heat and cut back on wind chill ripping through the suit. The seams on the Highline Plus are some of the highest quality, well built seams you’ll find on a wetsuit. There are multiple parts that play a role in incredible seams. Firstly, on the exterior, all seams are built with Hydrolock. Hydrolock is thin, lightweight, and flexible. On the interior, seams are glued and blindstitched. This plays into minimal water entry through seams as well as flexibility. On top of this there is F’n tape on internal seals making everything watertight. I definitely have to say that Quiksilver takes their seams seriously and the combination of high quality materials and well developed technologies ensures maximum comfort, warmth, and flexibility with the Highline Plus. To prevent flushing, the wrists and ankles have Quiksilver’s Flush Lock 2.0 seals. The edges on the neck, wrists, and ankles are fused which prevents flushing. I also love the built-in knee pads. They’re lightweight, unnoticeable, and durable and protects you where you need it most. With the knees being a pretty high-wear area, the knee pads will also extend the life of your wetsuit. As far as sizing goes, I went directly off of Quiksilver’s size chart. I’m 6’0 tall and 185 pounds and the large fits really well. I don’t feel like I have extra material anywhere and the arm lengths and leg length is perfect. They do offer in short, regular, and tall so no matter what size you are, you’ll find one that fits. Overall I’ve been really impressed with the 3/2mm Highline Plus Chest Zip Wetsuit by Quiksilver. I never felt uncomfortable or like my movement was restricted or compromised. The Highline Plus dries quickly and keeps me warm for long sessions in the water.
