To calculate the speed of a rapper, simply divide the number of syllables they pronounced by the time they took to say them. The method we use implements a minimum amount of time for the length of the calculation clip, which is exactly 1 second. This makes it possible to find the absolute fastest speed a rapper has reached on a given verse, without going unreasonably low with the amount of time taken as a reference (to avoid calcs like 2 syllables // 0.05 seconds = 40 SPS, where 40 syllables weren’t actually pronounced), giving more comparable results.
