"Muntanyes del Canigó" - Traditional northern catalan song

Traditional melody about the local geography and fauna, aswell as love for a yound lady, sung by rurals and town peoples in and around the Canigó mountain peak, as well as fishermen in the coasts of l'Empordà and el Roselló (Northern Catalonia). The mountain is physically visible throught the plain region and has become a symbol of catalan identity, vindication and sovereignty ever since the region it is in (Northern Catalonia) was lost to France after the 1659 Treaty of the Pyrenees. A small portion of the northern population still speaks catalan, and a famous poem was written about the mountain and the eastern pyrenees in general, "Canigó" by Jacint Verdaguer, during the language's popular revival movement in the rest of Catalunya, of which the author was a vital player, which talks about the nation's birth in the northern peaks during the carolingian era.
