Day one landslide halts bucket list trip in Himalayas India

The Himalayas on a motorcycle has been on my bucket list for years, join me for the ultimate Himalayan adventure starting from Leh, northern India in the middle of the Himalayas. I'm riding the Royal Enfield Himalayan and this is the first in the multi part series -    • Himalayas adv adventure on the Royal Enfie...   India day 1: Following 2 days of altitude acclimatisation in Leh 12,500 feet / 3,810m we set off into the mountains. Leaving the hustle of Leh it was apparent within minutes that we were in for some spectacular scenery on this adventure. The expanses of rugged mountains, the rock formations, raging rivers and aggressive canyons. The road quality was an immediate expectation exceeder, with such high military activities close to the Chinese border the roads are better than most in Europe. Smooth pothole free tarmac with twisties and bends that are simply heaven for a motorcycle. Yes you randomly find sections where the tarmac stops and turns to dusty rock for a few hundred metres but that’s all part of the fun. We left the tarmac on some small windy canyon roads with dramatic rock faces and minimal traffic. With just 28km to go we turned a corner to face a huge landside. Thankfully three JCB diggers were already on the scene shifting hundreds of tonne of rock to clear a way between the huge canyon wall and the deep river gorge. If we had waited for them to finish it would have been hours but thankfully the Himalayan is made for all roads or no roads...the guys cleared a rough path just wide enough for a motorcycle full off road hard enduro mode to clamber through.
