Navajo Rugs
Take a closer look as our Manager of Education and Outreach talks about our various Navajo Rugs in the MGMoA Permanent Collection. Our museum Educator Amber DuBosie-Shepherd is an enrolled tribal member of the Navajo Nation, and a descendant of the Prairie Band Potawatomi and Sac & Fox tribes. She explains the various designs and styles, as well as the significance and meanings of some of the symbols. Amber's late Navajo great-grandmother was a Navajo weaver. She talks about her personal experience growing up with her great-grandmother and about her knowledge of Navajo rugs from the knowledge passed down to her.
