AFCC Clarendon Cup 2026 - May 31 - Men's 2/3

Plenty of action and lots of fun until the very end! But ultimately less boring than I would prefer. I didn't think I was going to make the final turn 2 after a quick push out and chose the barrier rather than risking the curb at speed. Somehow my wrist ended up caught between my wheel and fork, and I was carted off with what EMS said was a compound fracture. Luckily, just stitches and a splint while I wait for an ortho. Bike unscathed except for the saddle. (Pardon the quality - I donated my DJI to the river on Saturday while windsurfing.) 0:00 - Not a good start position, but this may have been fortunate. 0:34 - That's right, only made it one turn before the first crash. No avoiding a free lap in this bunch. 1:30 - Mimi just sends us right through. 4:33 - Only took a couple laps to get back on the front group. Break of 3 (DCDevo/SLR/Pitt) may have already formed. 6:04 - A little excitement in turn 1. 10:40 - Another turn 2 crash, just inside of me on the turn. 14:41 - Too wide a course and too many of us for that to work. 22:06 - Field prime made easy thanks to blockers. 23:30 - SLR attacking DC triggers needless defense with both teams already in the break. 25:12 - Moving Joe forward to keep pushing the block. 35:09 - Only one more up the road. 36:24 - RIP breakaway. 2 more would eventually get out and caught before the bell. 43:15 - Last lap inbound. Fatal mistake of not pushing forward or closing off the right.
