Coupling and Decoupling Capacitors
Coupling capacitors are used to connect circuits such that AC signals (audio frequency and radio frequency, etc.) can pass from one stage to the next while blocking DC voltages. They are also used to prevent DC loading of circuits from test equipment. Decoupling capacitors are filters used to reduce transient voltages caused by varying current demands from circuits.
