Seed keeper in Uganda | A Growing Culture

Agroecology systems are dependent on local seed keepers who carefully select and preserve quality seed and distribute these to other farmers. In this video Kakembo Ziboyimu Salongo from Kikandwa Sub County in Mityana District Uganda, recounts how he started his work to preserve seeds because he noticed that his fellow farmers in the community were struggling to get good seeds. Remembering his grandmother's lessons, Kakembo perfected his technique in preserving seeds, and shared his insights with his community members and viewers. We were able to produce and share this video thanks to Kikandwa Environmental Association, Uganda and A Growing Culture. The project is facilitated by InsightShare.
