Shining a light on psychological aspects of SCI care: Using outcome measures and group interventions in a South African context Psychological adjustment plays a critical role in recovery following SCI, influencing rehabilitation engagement, long-term participation, and quality of life. Yet psychological outcomes are often difficult to measure and are frequently underrepresented within multidisciplinary rehabilitation systems. This webinar will explore how outcome measures and structured psychological group interventions can help make psychological rehabilitation more visible, measurable, and scalable. Drawing on insights from mentorship by international leaders in rehabilitation outcomes and a clinical visit to Sahlgrenska University Hospital in Sweden, this session will discuss practical strategies for integrating psychological assessment and group-based care within SCI rehabilitation. The presentation will also reflect on how these approaches are being adapted and implemented within South African context.
