Aside from my passion for hand painting papers, I also love to cook…err…well I used to love to cook. Now that we’re empty nesters it’s not quite as fun. Over the years I’ve amassed a very large collection of cookbooks that I just can’t part with. One day I brought one of them into the studio with me, and like anything else that ends up in the studio, it got paint on it. This was the start of a new obsession for me…painting on cookbook pages! What makes this an awesome paper to use for mixed media art is that the pages are typically sturdier than most papers, and the book itself becomes a container for your thoughts and explorations. Plus, it’s a great way to recycle.
