SJEC Escalators | Dunnes Stores (Cornmarket), Belfast, UK

Some Chinese made SJEC escalators which I didn't even expecting to see here in Northern Ireland! When I saw these escalators from afar I knew that these weren't something that you would usually see in Europe (like let's say KONE ECO3000 or even ThyssenKrupp Velino), and my sense was right! Of course, I just had to film these since SJEC and other Chinese brands are extremely rare in Europe. These were installed in 2003 by Mid Western Lifts when the building was renovated (it was previously a Woolworths). While the two passenger elevators have been replaced into Orona just last year, these escalators are still original and running pretty well. For some reason the landing covers say "SJEEC" (with an extra "E", probably a typo) but the production stickers under the handrail ends clearly say SJEC, so don't even think that these are from a different company. Interesting fault code display though. Did I say Mid Western Lifts? Well, they were an Irish elevator company from Limerick, Ireland founded in 1983 and acquired by Orona in 2011. Apart from Orona, they also distributed and sold Kleemann, Daldoss and SJEC products in both the Republic of Ireland and Northern Ireland (UK). These escalators are an example of their installations in Northern Ireland, and the only known SJECs in the region so far. This also explains why there are maintenance stickers from both MWL and Orona, as the former was a distributor of SJEC. ℹ️ Info • Brand: SJEC • Model: FES • Manufacturer: Suzhou Jiangnan Jiajie Elevator Group Co.
