Whilst sampling allows us to play instruments we wouldn't otherwise have access to (including many years of practise), what it also does is allow us to create the impossible. The sensation of playing a grand piano impossibly quietly. Each note painstakingly sampled at just one level above total silence possible to do when sampling, not so when actually playing.
