No item used The final core is terrifying. Here are my strats: When it liquefies, immediately go for the switches on the walls to solidify it. (duh!) When you see openings between Nightmare's attacks, keep taunting or attacking with the grenade launcher to build up your DT gauge. Keep moving though because it will keep firing small lasers at you. Stay away from the cores when they open. Those white laser beams will hurt you. When a core is exposed, activate your Ifrit DT and use Inferno or Meteor to deal a lot of damage before the core hides again. When Nightmare's health is close to 25%, let yourself be caught by his goo attack and go fight an easier version of Nelo Angelo. Doing so when Nightmare is at roughly 25% health will allow you to skip most of the phase where Trish is attacking you at intervals. When Nightmare is at 0 Health, it will suddenly regain about 25% health and it will expose its final core, attacking almost continuously and draining your DT gauge. This is the most dangerous phase because you don't get a lot of opportunities to practice it and it's really easy to get hit at this point. Switch to Alastor. Use well-timed rolls to dodge the white lasers being fired regularly out of the core and fire grenades at him after every roll to refill your DT quickly. Once you have a lot of DT, activate it and use Air Raid while you keep moving to avoid attacks while dealing damage. You will probably run out of DT energy. If you do, keep recharging DT by using the aforementioned dodge+grenade strat. How do deal with Nightmare's various attacks: Homing Missiles: Keep jumping (Rolling Blaze) in a good timing as the missiles are about to reach you to reflect them back at it. Ice Beam of Doom: Get on top of him ASAP. This is one of the most dangerous attack if it hits you. You can use the Jump Kick attack to quickly land on top of him but sometimes it doesn't work. So make sure you are on top of him. Once you are on top, that's free damage you can deal to Nightmare. Blade Thrusts: Learn to feel the timing of its stabs. Use well timed Rolling Blazes to counter one of its thrusts and it will be stunned, leaving you plenty of time to deal some damage to the core. Giant Spinning Blade: Same strat as the Blade Stabs. Keep doing Rolling Blazes when you see the spinning blade getting close to you. If you are lucky, the spinning blade will hit your fire aura, stunning Nightmare again for some damage time for you. Ceiling Goo + Missiles : Same strat as homing missiles. Stay away from the center of the arena. Cage: It also has an attack where it traps you in a cage but I barely had to deal with this one so I don't remember what to do. It's rare.
