The Forge

"The Forge" moves beyond traditional gratitude, exploring the "industrial" process of becoming a man. It focuses on the grit of learning a trade and the psychological strength required to "calibrate" one's life under the guidance of a mentor. Musically, the song utilizes odd time signatures and a haunting-to-heavy vocal dynamic to mirror the tension and release of hard work and personal growth. It’s a song about the debt of blood and bone we owe to those who didn't give up on us when we were "rust and grime." Dedicated to a mentor who is always in my thoughts, even when the silence of time grows between us.
