On March 13, the Sonic Boom of the South held its annual tryouts for the J5 Drum Major Squad. The candidates were judged on a variety of sectors with the hope of obtaining 1 of 3 spots for the 2023-2024 squad. Results showed that the new members include Devin Ard, Jaylin Thornton, & Edrick Franklin. These young men will be led by the newly announced J5 Head Drum Major, Christian Houghton. Alongside returning member, Desi Jenkins.
